Hallaç Manastir

Hallaç Manastır is a rock-cut monastery carved into the volcanic tufa landscape near Göreme in Cappadocia. The wider region served as a major centre of Byzantine monasticism between the 4th and 13th centuries, when hermits and religious communities excavated churches, living cells and interconnected corridors directly into the soft tuff. Hallaç remains sparsely documented compared to the more famous Göreme Open-Air Museum nearby, lending it a quieter, less visited character. Visitors can expect rough-hewn rock chambers, possible traces of fresco painting, and the characteristic stillness of Cappadocia's cave architecture set against an expansive tufa valley.
