House of One

Shared house of worship for Jews, Christians and Muslims under construction on Petriplatz in central Berlin. The project grew out of a 2011 collaboration between the Berlin Cathedral, the Reform congregation Sukkat Shalom and the Muslim Forum Dialog; the design by Berlin practice Kuehn Malvezzi places a central light-filled hall flanked by three equally sized wings for synagogue, church and mosque. The foundation stone was laid in 2021, on top of the medieval Petri church and the first Latin school of Berlin, whose skeletons were documented on site. Until the planned opening around 2028 the foundation runs guided tours, dialogue evenings and an interfaith education programme.
