Statue of James Francis Edward Keith

The Keith Monument on Berlin's Zietenplatz commemorates James Francis Edward Keith (1696-1758), the Scottish Jacobite exile who rose to field marshal under Frederick the Great. Frederick II commissioned the statue along with other generals' monuments from 1769 for Wilhelmplatz to commemorate the Silesian Wars. The over-life-size marble figure was originally by Johann Gottfried Schadow's teacher and was recast in 1862 in bronze by sculptor August Kiss - it counts as a masterwork of the 19th-century Berlin sculpture school. The original was badly damaged in World War II; today's arrangement of the four Frederician generals dates to the 2003 restoration.
