Luisenfriedhof I

Luisenfriedhof I — also known as Alter Luisenfriedhof — is a Protestant cemetery in Berlin's Charlottenburg district, established in 1815 and named after the nearby Luisenkirche. At just 1.33 hectares it is one of the city's smaller historic burial grounds, yet the entire site is protected as a heritage monument. Its headstones and grave structures span the Biedermeier era, offering a quiet window into early 19th-century Berlin funerary culture. Today it functions primarily as a contemplative green retreat for local residents, its mature tree canopy giving the compact grounds the feel of a shaded pocket park.
