Polish Army Museum

The Museum of the Polish Army traces more than a thousand years of the country's military past, from Piast knights to NATO membership. Marshal Pilsudski founded it by decree in 1920, soon after independence; today it occupies a wing of the National Museum on Aleje Jerozolimskie. With more than 250,000 objects it is Poland's second-largest military museum, including Hussar armour with its iconic wings, Napoleonic standards and relics from the 1920 Battle of Warsaw. The outdoor park holds around 130 tanks, guns and aircraft from T-34 to MiG-21. Temporary shows examine episodes such as Westerplatte 1939 and the Home Army, while a new main site is taking shape in the Warsaw Citadel.
