Pecaut Square

David Pecaut Square is a broad granite-and-concrete plaza fronting Metro Hall in downtown Toronto, named after civic leader and consultant David Pecaut (1955–2009), who was instrumental in shaping initiatives like Toronto's 2008 Olympic bid. Its glass pavilions serve as entry points to the PATH network, Toronto's 30-kilometre underground pedestrian walkway connecting office towers, transit hubs, and shopping concourses. At street level the square reads as a functional commuter pass-through — minimal landscaping, open sightlines — but its underground connections make it a quiet node in the daily movement of thousands of downtown workers.
