Post Stadium

The Poststadion in Berlin-Moabit is a sports stadium from the late Weimar period, opened in 1929 as a sports and recreation venue for employees of the Deutsche Reichspost. Architect Georg Demmler designed a sober Neue Sachlichkeit building - red brick facade, functional grandstand, a tartan athletics track around the pitch. The stadium entered sports history in 1936 when it hosted several preliminary football matches of the Berlin Summer Olympics, and again in 1974 when the East German team trained here during the World Cup. Today Tennis Borussia Berlin (fourth division) plays here, along with athletics meetings and school sports events. The surrounding Sportpark Moabit connects to Fritz-Schloss-Park.
