St. Laurentius

St. Laurentius is a listed Catholic parish church in Aachen-Laurensberg, completed in 1912 to designs by Cologne architect Joseph Buchkremer in collaboration with art historian Paul Clemen. It sits prominently on a low hill surrounded by the old village cemetery, giving it an almost rural silhouette despite its urban location. The interior contrasts sharply with the sober brick exterior: contemporary black seating, a modern altar, and a new organ installed on the upper gallery create an unexpectedly spare atmosphere. The plateau around the church offers quiet views over the surrounding neighborhood. Beyond regular Sunday services, the church hosts an annual concert series and is a sought-after venue for weddings, valued for its warm natural light and intimate scale.
