History in Warsaw

Warsaw's history is woven into its squares, streets and surviving structures. The Polish History Museum and the Antonina Leśniewska Museum of Pharmacy document different layers of the city's past, while the Warsaw Barbican remains one of the few medieval fortifications still standing in the capital. Parades Square, Bank Square and the sweeping Aleje Jerozolimskie boulevard each carry distinct historical associations, as do Belweder Palace and Blank Palace. The Adam Mickiewicz Monument and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Mary Magdalene reflect the city's diverse cultural and religious heritage across the centuries.
