Abbot's Tower

Abbot's Tower is a late 16th-century Scottish tower house situated near New Abbey in Dumfries and Galloway, a region once defined by cross-border conflict between Scotland and England. Tower houses of this type were the standard fortified residence of the Scottish lesser nobility, designed to withstand raids rather than sustained sieges. In use until around 1627, the structure subsequently fell into disrepair for several centuries before being restored in the early 1990s by Peter Kormylo. It functions today as a private residence and is not open to the public.
