Casa de Serralves

Casa de Serralves is a refined Art Deco villa in Porto's Lordelo do Ouro district, designed in 1923 by Portuguese architect José Marques da Silva and completed in 1944. Its streamline moderne facade — crisp horizontal lines, white render, and geometric detailing — is considered one of the purest examples of the style on the Iberian Peninsula. The 900 m² villa anchors the sweeping Serralves Gardens and was classified as Portuguese national heritage in 2012, recognized alongside the park as a coherent architectural and landscape ensemble. It serves as the seat of the Fundação de Serralves, which organizes contemporary art exhibitions inside the villa itself. On summer weekends the site stays open until 20:00, making early-evening visits through the gardens a particular draw.
