Basòdino

At 3,272 metres, Basòdino is the highest summit in the canton of Ticino, straddling the border between Switzerland and the Italian region of Piedmont. The mountain's north face carries the Basòdino Glacier, one of the most closely monitored glaciers in the southern Alps — its steady retreat since the 19th century makes it a key reference point for studying climate change at high altitude. Approached via challenging alpine routes from the Robiei reservoir in Val Bavona, the summit rewards with sweeping views across the Lepontine Alps toward the Po Plain.
