Aiguille du Jardin
The Aiguille du Jardin is a 4,035-metre rock and ice summit within the Aiguille Verte massif near Chamonix, on the French side of the Mont Blanc group. Despite its modest topographic prominence of just 37 metres relative to the neighbouring Grande Rocheuse, it ranks among the more technically demanding of the Alpine four-thousanders. The peak was first climbed on 1 August 1904 by guide Jean Ravanel with E. Fontaine and Léon Tournier, during the golden era of systematic first ascents in the Aiguilles by Chamonix's guiding community. The route via the Arête du Jardin requires sound high-alpine experience, competence on mixed terrain, and careful weather assessment. The summit rewards climbers with a compact but striking panorama over the Aiguille Verte, the Grandes Jorasses, and the Mont Blanc plateau.
