Bergsturzmuseum

The Bergsturzmuseum documents the Goldau rockslide of 2 September 1806, one of the most devastating natural disasters in Swiss history: roughly 40 million cubic metres of rock broke away from the Rossberg in minutes, burying four villages and killing over 450 people. Permanent exhibits include geological specimens, historical eyewitness accounts, and scale models illustrating the scale and mechanics of the event. The museum is open daily from April through October (9 am–6 pm) and through winter (9 am–5 pm), and is recognized as a regional cultural heritage site of cantonal significance.
