Aiguille du Grépon
MountaineeringGeologyHigh Altitude+1
Blanca Peak stands at 14,351 feet (4,374 m), the highest summit in Colorado's Sangre de Cristo Range and one of the state's coveted 14ers. To the Navajo people it is known as Sisnaajini, one of the four sacred mountains that mark the boundaries of Dinétah, their ancestral homeland — making it a site of living spiritual significance. The standard approach via the Huerfano trailhead crosses granite boulder fields and demands solid route-finding skills in exposed alpine terrain. On clear days the summit rewards climbers with sweeping views across the vast San Luis Valley and surrounding Colorado ranges.
