Birkenkofel

The Birkenkofel rises to 2,922 metres in the Haunold group of the Sexten Dolomites, forming part of a powerful ridge-connected massif alongside the Hochebenkofel, Mitterebenkofel and Unterebenkofel. The entire area falls within the Drei Zinnen Nature Park, one of the most protected alpine landscapes in the Eastern Alps. At 2,510 metres, the Ebenkofelsscharte saddle between the Mitterebenkofel and Unterebenkofel serves as a crossing point for experienced mountaineers. The pale limestone walls and dramatic ridge geometry are characteristic of Dolomite geology. Routes here suit sure-footed hikers and alpinists, rewarded with sweeping panoramic views across the Sexten and Puster valleys.
