Bozcaada Castle

Bozcaada Castle stands at the harbor entrance of the Turkish Aegean island of Bozcaada, known in antiquity as Tenedos. The fortification reflects the island's contested past: Byzantines, Genoese, and Venetians each reinforced the structure before the Ottomans took permanent control in the 15th century and expanded the walls to their current imposing scale. Visitors can walk the ramparts and take in sweeping views over the island's harbor, its famed vineyards, and the strait of Çanakkale — making it the island's most prominent historical landmark.
