Hamburg Central Mosque

The Centrum Mosque in Hamburg is one of the city's best-known mosques and stands on Boeckmannstrasse in the multicultural district of St. Georg. It is run by the Islamische Gemeinde Hamburg association, founded in 1977 and aligned with the Milli Goerues movement; the congregation was a co-signatory of the 2012 state treaty between the City of Hamburg and the Islamic religious communities. Architecturally the mosque tucks a domed front building with a minaret motif into an otherwise typical late-19th-century street frontage; the prayer hall seats around 800. It mainly serves the Turkish-speaking community and runs regular open-mosque days for outside visitors.
