Asamkirche
Munich
The German Hunting and Fishing Museum ranks among the most important hunting museums in the world and has occupied the secularised Gothic Augustinian church at Neuhauser Strasse 2 in Munich's pedestrian zone since 1966. The collection holds several thousand objects from medieval boar spears to modern angling gear, plus around 1,000 mounted animals - European game species, trophies and the notorious Wolpertinger, the Bavarian composite fantasy creature. Outside the entrance the bronze sculptures of a wild boar and a catfish are popular city-centre photo spots. Admission around seven euro, well pitched for children.
