Festenstein
The ruins of Festenstein castle sit on a hillside west above Andrian, a small wine-growing village in South Tyrol's Adige valley, and are protected as a listed monument. Little is documented about its founding or feudal history, though like many South Tyrolean fortifications it likely served a medieval defensive role controlling the valley below. What survives today is primarily scattered masonry accessible via a hillside path. The elevated position offers open views across Andrian's vineyards and the surrounding Dolomite ridges.
