Franzensfeste

Liked by

Franzensfeste station is a protected historic railway junction in the Eisack Valley of South Tyrol, where the Brenner line from Innsbruck meets the Pustertal line from Lienz. Despite serving only a small settlement, the station carries outsized strategic importance as a node connecting northern and southern Europe across the Alps — a role it has held since the Habsburgs developed the Brenner railway corridor. The historic station building is a listed monument, and the site is today operated by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana with wheelchair-accessible facilities.
