Botzer

The Botzer is the highest summit of its namesake group in the southern Stubaier Alps, reaching 3,251 metres between the Passeier and Ridnaun valleys near Merano, South Tyrol. Its first ascent was made on 16 July 1874 by naturalist Theodor Petersen and mountain guide Alois Ennemoser, placing it within the era of systematic scientific exploration of the Eastern Alps. Three pronounced ridges radiate from the summit to the north, southeast, and west, offering wide-ranging views across the Ötztal and Zillertal ranges on clear days. The climb is a serious undertaking suited to experienced mountain hikers, with nearby alpine huts serving as bases for multi-day traverses.
