The Heinrich Hertz Tower – nicknamed "Telemichel" by Hamburgers – stands 276.5 meters tall and has shaped Hamburg's skyline since its completion in 1968. Named after physicist Heinrich Hertz who was born in Hamburg, it primarily serves as a broadcast transmission tower. Architecturally, it features two distinctive separate platforms: one housing a former observation deck and restaurant, the other containing telecommunications equipment. Closed to the public since 2001, it remains an iconic landmark visible from across the city – and has been a listed cultural monument since 2013.
