Warsaw Rising Museum

History museum in the Wola district, dedicated to the 63-day Warsaw Uprising of 1 August to 2 October 1944. Housed in a former tram power station and opened on the 60th anniversary in 2004 as Poland's first multimedia museum. Across three floors, original weapons, underground newspapers, taped veteran interviews and a 3D film about the city's destruction recount the rising. The courtyard holds a replica Liberator bomber of the type used for Allied airdrops. A black wall lists the names of all 11,000 fallen insurgents. The "Monter" bell honours uprising commander Antoni Chrusciel. Free admission on Wednesdays; English and German audio guides available.
