Museum in the Kulturbrauerei

Inside the red-brick complex of the former Schultheiss brewery in Prenzlauer Berg, the Haus der Geschichte foundation has run the permanent exhibition Everyday Life in the GDR since 2013. Across roughly 600 square metres, original objects, films, and audio testimony compress the gap between East Germany's official promises and lived reality. Highlights include an NVA Trabant Kuebel, an LPG collective-farm office, a fully stocked Konsum shop, and personal belongings from emigrants. Strong sections cover work, housing, consumption, youth culture, and the Stasi's shadow. Admission is free. Afterwards visitors can stroll the brewery grounds, now full of cinemas, restaurants, and a Sunday market.
