Aldourie Castle

Aldourie Castle is a Scottish Baronial mansion dating to 1626, set on the southern shore of Loch Ness near the hamlet of Dores in the Scottish Highlands. Originally listed as a Category B building in 1971, it was elevated to Category A — Scotland's highest heritage designation — in 2003, with one of its six assessment criteria rated 'outstanding'. The surrounding landscape garden is recorded in the Scottish Register of Historic Gardens and Designed Landscapes, reflecting its significance beyond the building itself. Positioned directly on the Loch Ness shoreline with views across the water and into the Highland hills, the estate offers a quietly dramatic atmosphere well removed from the busier northern shore.
