Aviemore railway station

Aviemore railway station serves the Highland town of Aviemore and sits at the gateway to the Cairngorms National Park. The station first opened in 1863, while the current building dates from 1892 and is a well-preserved example of Victorian railway architecture in the Scottish Highlands. Originally listed at Category B in 1986, it was upgraded to Category A — Scotland's highest level of listed building protection — in 1998, recognising its architectural and historic significance. For visitors, the station is a practical arrival point for outdoor pursuits in the surrounding mountains as well as a minor architectural curiosity in its own right.
