Ben Wyvis

Ben Wyvis is a 1,046-metre ridge in Easter Ross, northwest of Dingwall, and one of the most northerly Munros in the Scottish Highlands. The five-kilometre summit plateau is composed of Moine Group pelitic gneiss, among the oldest metamorphic rock formations in Scotland. The standard ascent from the Garbet car park climbs through birch woodland and open blanket bog before reaching the broad, gently rounded ridge — a landscape that holds snow well into spring. The high point, Glas Leathad Mòr, offers clear-weather views stretching east to the Cromarty Firth and west deep into the Highland interior. Its isolated position north of the main Munro clusters means the summit sees relatively little footfall, rewarding those who make the four-to-five-hour round trip with genuine Highland solitude.
