Remagen station opened in 1858 on the left-bank Rhine railway line and is now a listed Kulturdenkmal (cultural monument) under Rhineland-Palatinate heritage law. It serves as the terminus of the Ahrtal railway, making it the main interchange point for the Ahrweiler district, and since the 2020 timetable revision it has received ICE high-speed services at off-peak hours. For its size, the station punches above its weight as a regional rail hub.
