Château de Salm

Burg Salm is the ruin of a medieval cliff castle near La Broque in the Bas-Rhin department of Alsace, built around 1220 on a prominent sandstone outcrop above the Bruche valley. The site belonged to the Counts of Salm, a noble family with significant regional influence across the northern Alsace in the 13th century. After changing ownership and damage during the Thirty Years' War, the structure gradually fell into disrepair; the remaining walls and rock formations are now classified as a French historic monument. Hiking trails from La Broque lead up to the plateau, where the ruined ramparts offer open views across the forested Vosges foothills.
