Ehrenmal

The Marienturm is one of the few surviving towers of Aachen's outer city wall, constructed between 1300 and 1350 as part of the city's medieval fortification system. While most of the wall and its towers have been lost to centuries of urban development, this tower remains intact and is listed as a protected architectural monument. It offers a tangible sense of the scale and masonry of late-medieval civic defense, standing today as a quiet remnant embedded in the modern city fabric.
