Macau's highest point and the oldest modern lighthouse on the Chinese coast — UNESCO World Heritage with panoramic views.
The Guia Lighthouse crowns the highest point of the Macau Peninsula — Guia Hill — and is regarded as the first modern lighthouse on the entire Chinese coast. The Portuguese built and lit it in 1865; its characteristic white cylindrical form with a double gallery and lantern room remains unchanged today. From the hilltop it commands sweeping views over the entire peninsula, the harbour and, on clear days, as far as Hong Kong. Immediately beside it stands the 17th-century Guia Fortress and a small chapel — together they form an ensemble included in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Historic Centre of Macau. The Guia Hill is surrounded by a city park and can be reached by cable car.
