Friedenskapelle

Also known as: Friedenskapelle Haarberg

The Friedenskapelle (Peace Chapel) sits atop the Haarberg, Aachen's highest point in the Haaren district, and was founded in 1969 as a private endowment. The modest Catholic chapel has been a listed monument since 2009; inside, a portrait of the founder and a small exhibition document its history. Its elevated position draws as many visitors for the panoramic view over Aachen as for prayer — a free-to-use telescope is installed near the summit cross. The chapel has become a sought-after venue for intimate weddings, and the short hilltop trail makes it an easy half-day excursion from the city center.
