St. Germanus (Haaren)

Also known as: St. Germanus

St. Germanus is a Neo-Gothic brick parish church in Haaren, a district on the northern edge of Aachen, designed by local architect Heinrich von Kann and consecrated in 1892. Its construction is a representative example of Rhenish Gründerzeit church-building, funded and shaped by a tight-knit Catholic parish community. The church sustained severe damage during World War II and was temporarily rendered unusable; stabilisation and rebuilding efforts eventually returned it to active use. Listed as a protected monument, it remains a working Catholic parish today under the patronage of Germanus of Auxerre, now part of the broader Pastoral Area Aachen-Nord/Ost/Eilendorf. For visitors, it offers a quiet and modestly striking piece of late-19th-century neighbourhood architecture.
