Döbling Carmelite Nunnery

Also known as: Kirche zur Heiligen Familie im Karmelitenkloster Döbling, Karmeliterkloster mit Kirche Hl. Familie und Pfeilerbildstock vor der Kirche, Karmelitenkirche Döbling

The Carmelite Monastery in Doebling, Vienna's 19th district, belongs to the Discalced Carmelites, a reformed branch of the order founded in the 16th century by Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. The monastery in the Unterdoebling neighborhood comprises the residential buildings and an attached Roman Catholic church; the ensemble is listed. The Carmelites pursue a contemplative spirituality focused on interior prayer. The monastery church serves as the local parish church and is open for devotions.
