Glanzing Parish Church

Also known as: Glanzinger Pfarrkirche Verkündigung des Herren und Pfarrzentrum

The Glanzing Parish Church of the Annunciation is a small, listed Roman Catholic filial church in the Glanzing area of Vienna's 19th district, Doebling. It stands on Krottenbachstrasse in Obersievering, a hillside residential neighbourhood on the western slope of the Vienna Woods, developed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as a villa quarter for the Viennese bourgeoisie. Unlike Vienna's major parish churches it is not an independent parish but a filial church - meaning it is administered by a mother parish and used mainly for weekday services. The building itself is modest and not developed for tourism; it matters more to Doebling residents on a Sunday walk or to enthusiasts of Vienna's peripheral sacred architecture than to the typical visitor.
