Archeological Civic Museum of Bologna

Bologna's Museo Civico Archeologico has occupied the Palazzo Galvani — a designated Italian national monument — since 1881, and holds one of northern Italy's most comprehensive archaeological collections. Its core strength is local: tracing the region's history from prehistoric settlements through the Etruscan city of Felsina, the Celtic Boii period, and the Roman colony of Bononia. The Egyptian section, one of the oldest such collections in Italy with holdings dating back to 18th-century acquisitions, features mummies and funerary objects that draw particular attention. Greek and Roman antiquities, a plaster cast gallery of classical sculpture, and a numismatic cabinet round out the permanent display.
