Thun Palace

Thun Palace is one of several aristocratic townhouses lining the streets of Prague's Malá Strana (Lesser Town), its fabric layered with Renaissance foundations, Baroque remodelling and Historicist additions — a common fate for large Bohemian city palaces expanded across successive centuries. The building's core dates to the early 1600s, a period when the Lesser Town became the preferred address of Catholic nobility who consolidated their estates in Prague following the Battle of White Mountain in 1620. Protected as a Czech cultural monument, the palace today retains its garden, which offers a quiet counterpoint to the busy streets of the surrounding tourist district.
