Waldkapelle Neufahrn

Munich

The Waldkapelle Neufahrn is a small Catholic chapel built around 1630 in the hamlet of Neufahrn, part of the municipality of Schäftlarn in the Munich district of Upper Bavaria. Its construction date places it squarely in the Thirty Years' War, a period when roadside chapels were commonly erected as acts of devotion or appeals for protection. Listed as a protected Baudenkmal under Bavarian heritage law, it is one of the few surviving examples of early rural sacred architecture in this forested landscape. The chapel sits tucked into woodland near the old Irschenhauser Weg track — quiet, unassuming, and easy to walk past without noticing.
