Alte Allee (München)
Munich
Also known as: Frankfurt (Main) Westend
Frankfurt's Westend is one of Germany's best-preserved Gründerzeit neighborhoods, characterized by Wilhelmine-era villas, ornate stucco facades, and wide tree-lined avenues built during the German Empire between 1870 and 1914. Wealthy bankers and merchants commissioned grand city villas in Historicist and early Jugendstil styles, many of which remain in nearly original condition — a rarity in a city whose center was heavily bombed in World War II. Today, former private villas largely house law firms, consultancies, and consulates, giving the quarter a dual identity as both a residential enclave and a professional district on the western edge of Frankfurt's banking towers.
Frankfurt's noble address between Palmengarten and Westendstrasse — consulates, banks, libraries.
