Chiesa di Sant'Agata

The Chiesa di Sant'Agata is a Roman Catholic church in central Bologna, dedicated to the early Christian martyr Agatha of Catania, who died around 251 AD. Founded in 1379, the structure was reshaped in the baroque style during the Counter-Reformation era, a period when religious orders extensively remodelled Bologna's ecclesiastical fabric. Classified as an Italian national monument, it stands as a quieter counterpart to the more visited sanctuaries near Piazza Maggiore. Inside, visitors encounter a composed baroque interior still used for regular Catholic worship.
