Delimara Tower

Delimara Tower, originally called Torre della Limara, was a 1650 watchtower built by the Order of St John on the Delimara peninsula in southern Malta. It belonged to the chain of De Redin towers that Grand Master Martin de Redin had erected along the Maltese coast to relay early smoke-signal warnings of Ottoman corsair attacks. The tower guarded the approach to the bay of Marsaxlokk, which was particularly exposed as a large natural harbour. Abandoned and heavily damaged in the 19th century, only fragments of the foundation walls remain today, visible on a coastal walking path along the cliffs.
