Valletta viewpoint

The viewpoint sits within Hastings Gardens, a narrow terrace park running along Valletta's historic western bastions. It delivers one of the Maltese capital's most open panoramas: the full sweep of Marsamxett Harbour, Sliema's waterfront skyline, Manoel Island, and the yacht marina below. The gardens are named after Sir Francis Rawdon-Hastings, British Governor-General of Malta in the early 19th century, and rest atop the 16th-century fortifications built by the Knights of St John that still enclose the city. Locals consistently point to this spot as the best place in Valletta to watch the sunset, and at golden hour the benches along the bastion edge fill quickly. Entry is free and the walk from Valletta's city centre takes under ten minutes.
