Koca Seyit

This riverside monument commemorates Seyit Çabuk — known as Koca Seyit or Onbaşı Seyit — born in 1889 and one of the most celebrated common soldiers of the First World War in Turkey. During the naval Battle of Çanakkale in 1915, he reportedly loaded a 275-kilogram artillery shell into a cannon by hand three consecutive times after the mechanical lift failed, helping repel Allied warships. The feat became legend and cemented his status as a national hero. The bronze sculpture captures him mid-lift and stands along the Kızılırmak riverbank walking path, accompanied by an information panel recounting his story.
