Deutschlandmuseum

The Deutschlandmuseum on Leipziger Platz opened on 17 June 2023, the anniversary of the 1953 East German uprising, next door to the Spy Museum run by the same operators. Instead of classic vitrines, the visit leads through twelve walk-in themed rooms covering the Germanic tribes, the Middle Ages, Reformation, the Empire, Weimar, the Nazi years, divided Germany and reunification. Actors on screens, soundscapes and built sets such as a piece of the Wall push you through two thousand years in about 75 minutes. It works as an introduction for international visitors and families with kids, less so for history students.
