Mini Blue Hole

The Mini Blue Hole is a natural rock formation on the coastline near Marsaskala in southeastern Malta — less a true blue hole than a tidal fissure connected to the open sea by an underwater tunnel. When swell is running, the formation acts as a dramatic blowhole: water surges in and out through the rock in a slow, breathing rhythm that visitors consistently describe as mesmerising. The surrounding shallow reefs make it a straightforward entry point for snorkellers and divers. There is no formal path or parking; visitors follow the coastal rocks on foot to reach the spot. The site stays noticeably quieter than Malta's more publicised dive sites, and the blowhole effect is most pronounced during the windier winter and spring months.
