Palace Armoury

The Palace Armoury in Valletta is one of Europe's most intact military collections, assembled from the arsenal of the Knights of St. John who governed Malta from 1530. Held within the Grand Master's Palace since 1604, the collection spans around 5,000 pieces — full plate armour, breastplates, swords, halberds, pistols, and early firearms, many still tagged with the names of the individual knights who wore them. The suits from the 16th and early 17th centuries are particularly notable for their chiselled decorative patterns, blurring the line between battlefield equipment and craftsmanship. Heritage Malta displays the collection in the original vaulted palace hall, with several adjoining rooms restored to their period appearance. The Malta Pass covers entry; bags are held at the door.
