Breithorn

The Lötschentaler Breithorn is a 3,784 m summit in the Bernese Alps of the Swiss canton of Valais, forming part of the Bietschhorn chain on the southern edge of the Lötschtal valley. Its defining feature is a pronounced north face that retains snow and ice well into summer, making it a serious high-alpine objective requiring glacier travel experience and appropriate equipment. The peak sits away from the more frequented Valais four-thousanders, offering a quieter and more remote alpine experience. From the summit, climbers are rewarded with broad views across the Lötschtal, the surrounding ridgelines, and on clear days down toward the Rhône valley far below.
