Büyük Saat Kulesi

The Büyük Saat Kulesi (Great Clock Tower) is a 32-metre Ottoman brick-and-cut-stone monument completed in 1882 at the heart of Adana's historic centre. Construction was initiated in 1881 by Governor Ziya Pasha and finished under his successor Abidin Pasha — part of a broader Tanzimat-era drive that saw similar civic clock towers erected across Anatolian provincial capitals as symbols of Ottoman modernization. At 32 metres it is considered the tallest clock tower in Turkey. The tower sits within easy walking distance of the ancient Stone Bridge over the Seyhan river, surrounded by restaurants, tea houses, and souvenir stalls, making it the natural starting point for anyone exploring the old city.
