Centro Cultural de Belém

Also known as: Belem Cultural Center

Lisbon's premier cultural center with concerts and exhibitions in Belém.

The Centro Cultural de Belém, abbreviated CCB, is Lisbon's most important cultural center, situated in the historic Belém district on the banks of the Tagus. Originally built in 1992 for the Portuguese EU Council Presidency, the austere limestone building quickly became the focal point of the capital's cultural life. It houses concert and congress halls, exhibition spaces, and a museum of design and fashion. Today the CCB annually welcomes numerous national and international productions in music, theatre, and visual arts — just steps from the Jerónimos Monastery and the Tower of Belém.
